Marathi New year, Happy Gudi Padwa 2024
Gudi Padwa is a Hindu festival widely celebrated in Maharashtra, Goa and the Konkan region, is marked with immense joy. It signifies the commencement of the Marathi New Year and holds great significance as it is believed that Lord Brahma created the universe on this auspicious day known as Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, celebrate as Gudi Padwa.
Term “Gudi” or “Gudhi” is indicated that Lord Brahma’s flag, while “Padwa” signifies Pratipada, the first day of the new moon phase in the Hindu calendar. However, Gudi Padwa is a time to celebrate the harvest of Rabi crops.
This year, Gudi Padwa is being celebrated today on 9th April 2024.
