Quit Smoking Day is observed on the second Wednesday of March. The day is observed to spread awareness about the harmful effects of smoking. Quit Smoking Day, organised in the United Kingdom in 1984 as a campaign to raise awareness about the health risks associated with smoking and to encourage smokers to quit it.Quit Smoking Day was first observed on Ash Wednesday in 1984.  this day is observed on the second Wednesday of March every year . Since 1984 this day gained momentum and celebrated each year in the UK.


According to the World Health Organisation(WHO), tobacco kills more than 8 million people every year, including an estimated 1.3 million non-smokers who are exposed to second-hand smoke.



How does smoking harmful for us 

According to Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, secondhand smoke can cause coronary heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer in adults who do not smoke.

WHO( World Health Organization) also highlights that secondhand smoke is inhaled by everyone, harming both smokers and non-smokers. It causes lung cancer in non-smokers and also increases the risk of coronary heart disease.
